about sql server management studio express 2005 (please answer each questions)?

1) Guys how do you connect to the SQL server? do you need a own website (with register feature) to be able to connect?

2) what is the server name in the SQL server?

3) why cant i connect using the SQL server authentication? (NOTE: i already did enable the remote connect )

a) put in either the ip address or the server name
b) no you don't need a website you are using sql server.

I mean it looks like someone is hosting you sql server email them to ask for the sql server ip address. However I have an sqldb hosted by a company with a web .co.uk i then just put the name in the connect to whatever.co.uk (that is not my real sitename).

2) what is the server name in the SQL server?

It's the name given to the SQL server and could take the name of the server it sits on etc.

Ok let's say you have done the above and have an SQL hosted at whatever.com

Although you have remote connection enabled and SQL authentication

have you added a user in to logins etc. also there's a setting in SQL management studio you may need to set.

When trying to log on does it come up with cannot connect to xxxxxxx where xxxxx is a databse you've never heard of?

If it is then you have an incorrect setting in studio manager
