Storage Server Motherboard

How can I cheaply build a secondary desktop to store all my media files?

I have 2TB of storage over 6 HDs. I want to keep my drives (and the files therein) offline. I want the PC to be very stable like a server, but its only function is to maintain and play video files. I hope to build the whole thing for under $500 (w/o monitor).

I think an integrated motherboard with lots of RAM and a spacious case will do...Which brands and models do you guys recommend?

UPDATE: The point is to keep the media files away from an internet connection (for obvious reasons). So, external drives on my primary PC are no good.

Why not get an external hard drive? That way you have portability as well as offline storage.
