What do they mean by; Incoming Server and Outgoing Server?

I was setting up a new spam-filter application and the Wizard ask me to type in the names of both these servers. I’ve looked in the help index, I even looked in “PC’s for Dummies” and still can’t find the answer. Will some kind & knowledgeable person out there tell me?

answer: an " incoming mail server and the outgoing mail server names are mainly used when u want to set up ur emaill address on the OutLook or Outlook express or Mac mail (on any email clients) ...the Incoming Mail Server (or POP 3)is the server name of the email address that u have with (for ex: u have an email address with yahoo say , xyz@yahoomail.com , the incoming server name will be the yahoo mail server name like for ex: "mail.yahoo.co" )
-An Out Going Server (or SMTP)is the name of the server provided by ur Internet Service Provider (ISP) like say i have internet service through AOL , then my outgoing mail server name will be for ex: mail.AOL.com , when u set up the server name in the Outlook ...that is only when u can access ur mails on ur OutLook (i.e., to send or receive through OutLook with out logging in to the web mail page)
NOTE: the server name 's that i quoted in the examples above are not correct , u need to get in touch with the ISP provider to get the server names ....
