How does one interpret power ratings on a device?
I see something like - 100-240V ~ 4A, 47-63Hz - on a device. How much power does this device consume?
I am trying to compute the power consumed by a 1U rack mountable server (in amps) and all I see on the device is this.
Amps are not a unit of power. The unit you want is watts. A watt is an amp multiplied by a volt. An amp is a unit of current while a volt is a unit for voltage. The power consumed is dependent on what your voltage is.
