Why are game and software downloads more expensive then DVD versions?
I have noticed on impulse and Adobe website that to download a game or piece of software it costs about £5-£10 more then getting the game or software on DVD in a shop. Can someone explain to me why this is? as I always thought not having to created a printed manual, DVD disc, case design, distributing to the numerous shops would be cheaper then just storing the game on a server and having people downloading it.
i thought most games were cheaper when they were digital distribution.
But it could just be that those particular sites are trying to make an extra bit of money by appealing to peoples laziness. ie someone is sitting at there computer and sees that "insert name here" is available to download for "insert price here" and they find it easier to just download it than to go to a shop and buy it.
But yes you are right, DD games should be cheaper as they are without all the extra stuff (case, manual, cover etc),
